What genres do you translate?
Linnet Cove specializes in romance, romantasy, and character-driven fiction, but I’m happy to consider other genres as well.
What matters most is that the project is a good fit — and that I feel confident I can preserve the voice, atmosphere, and emotional impact of your story.
Which language combinations do you offer?
Linnet Cove currently specializes in English-to-German literary translation.
The goal is not simply to make your manuscript understandable in German, but to create a German edition that reads naturally and preserves the voice and experience of the original.
Do you work with indie authors and self-publishers?
Absolutely.
Indie authors and self-publishers are at the heart of Linnet Cove.
I know that publishing independently often means making a lot of important decisions yourself, so my approach is personal, collaborative, and designed to make the translation process as clear and manageable as possible.
I’m also open to working with publishers and other publishing professionals.
How much does a literary translation cost?
Every manuscript is different, so final pricing depends on factors such as word count, complexity, genre, scope, and timeline.
You can find current starting prices on the Pricing page. Once I know more about your project, you’ll receive a clear individual quote before any work begins.
How does the translation process work?
It usually starts with a no-obligation inquiry where you tell me a little about yourself and your book.
If the project looks like a good fit, we can arrange a free introductory call to discuss your manuscript, goals, timeline, and any special requirements.
After that, you can choose a sample translation if you’d like one, and you’ll receive an individual quote and project timeline.
Once the translation begins, terminology, character voices, recurring phrases, worldbuilding details, and other important elements are tracked for consistency throughout the manuscript.
The completed translation then goes through a full revision and quality-control pass before delivery.
Can I request a sample translation first?
Yes.
A sample translation is completely optional, but it can be a great way to discover how your characters, dialogue, and narrative voice feel in German before committing to a full-book translation.
If you decide to move forward with the complete translation afterward, the sample can become part of the final manuscript.
Are your translations created by humans?
Yes.
Every Linnet Cove translation is human-led, reviewed, and editorially controlled from beginning to end.
Literary translation requires judgment, context, language instinct, and an understanding of what a scene is meant to make the reader feel — not simply replacing English words with German ones.
Do you use AI in your translation process?
AI may occasionally be used for research, consistency checks, or workflow support.
The literary translation itself - including voice, tone, phrasing, cultural adaptation, and final editing - is carried out by a human from beginning to end.
In other words: AI may support the process, but it does not replace the translator.
Do you translate spicy or explicit romance?
Absolutely.
Linnet Cove works with romance across the spice spectrum, including explicit content.
Heat level is part of a book’s voice just like humor, emotion, and dialogue — and it should feel just as natural in German as the rest of the story.
How long does a translation usually take?
That depends on the length and complexity of the manuscript, the services included, and current availability.
Before we begin, you’ll receive a realistic project timeline based on your book and your publishing plans.
If you already have a target release date in mind, please include it in your initial inquiry.
Do you also offer translation review and editing?
Yes.
If you already have a German translation, Linnet Cove can review and edit it with the original English manuscript in mind.
This can include readability, dialogue, character voice, tone, consistency, idioms, cultural context, and natural German phrasing.
If the existing translation would require so much rewriting that a fresh translation would ultimately produce a better result, I’ll tell you before we begin.
Can you help with audiobook production?
Yes.
With years of experience in the German audiobook industry, I can also support authors who want to bring their book to audio.
Depending on your needs, I can help you navigate the production process, advise on next steps, or connect you with suitable production and distribution partners.
If you’re considering a German audiobook alongside your translated edition, we can discuss the options as part of your project.
Which file formats do you accept?
For most projects, editable manuscript files such as Microsoft Word (.docx) are preferred.
Other common formats can often be accommodated as well. If your manuscript is currently in another format, just mention it when you get in touch and we can find the easiest solution.
How does payment work?
Payment terms are outlined clearly in your individual project agreement before work begins.
For larger projects such as full-length novels, payment may be divided into agreed installments rather than requiring the entire project fee at once.
You’ll always know the payment schedule before committing to the project.
Who retains the rights to the translated manuscript?
Your story remains your story.
Linnet Cove does not acquire publishing or ownership rights to your book simply by translating it.
The exact rights and permitted use of the completed translation will be clearly defined in the project agreement, so both sides know exactly what applies before work begins.
